20 years ago, two little kids were being forced to walk each other down the aisle and share in their first couples dance. “But Aunt Ellen, boys have cooties!” and with those few words our fate was sealed. We may have been states apart, but as we grew-up we always found ways to spend time together; late night phone calls that would last 4 hours (thank God for calling cards or our parents would have never been able to send us to college) the occasional awkward school dance, and spending our days dreaming and thinking of the next time we could see each other (no wonder why neither one of us became doctors or lawyers). By college we knew that we would be together for the rest of our lives and began to plan our future. It was no easy task trying to build a home out of Legos and Manolo Blahniks, but we have continued to succeed. No matter what lies before us, as best friends we will forever be by each others side, cooties and all.
